Mandy’s Top 7 Tips For Newbies
1)
Know your
limits! You have to start sometime,
but don’t push yourself so hard at the beginning that you injure yourself or
end up burning out. Pace yourself and start off slow. Set small goals for each
week/month and focus on that.
2)
Eat
Healthy! It’s pointless to kill yourself at the gym and then go home and eat
a container of ice cream. Just like your exercise, set small goals for your
nutrition. Here are some examples of
small goals:
-
Week 1 - eat a healthy breakfast every day
-
Week 2 – continue to eat your healthy breakfast
and now add a mid-morning snack
-
Week 3 – continue with the breakfast and snack,
but now add lunch.
My idea of healthy is lean meats,
vegetables, fruit (not too much if you want to lose weight), nuts and seeds.
3)
Warm-up
and Cool down! Start each workout with a warm-ups. Walking, jogging,
jumping rope and active stretches. Cool down with static stretching and
walking.
4)
Recover!
If you need a day off to recover, take it! Sometimes your body needs a break.
Just make sure that you are skipping days just because. Listen to your body.
5)
Log your
workouts! How do you know where you want to be if you don’t know where you
are. Write down all of your workouts. Studies show that people who write down
their workouts are more likely to keep at it.
6)
Work with
a trainer! Learn from a pro. They will teach you a lot of new cool thinks
and chances are if you are spend the money for help you won’t quit.
7)
Find a
workout Partner! It is more fun to workout with a friend and you are less likely to skip a workout if
someone is meeting you.
Enjoy Life – Workout!
